The Bodilly Mill Guineas

The Pen

At 6 weeks you just cannot let them loose, Some people will keep their speciality Guineas always penned up but I don’t my Guineas are acclimatised to the area first by spending time in a Pen near some trees.

The pen is about 6ft high, 10ft long by 6ft wide completely safe with 360 degree visibility all around.

For about 4 weeks I feed them in the Pen allowing them to ‘flit’ about from perch to perch inside the pen. It is also good that the guineas get a chance to sense the local predators and kick off when they see something they do not like.

As time progresses I take the top off the pen  and the birds naturally fly up to a high place. The trees!!!

My very plump birds have to do the flight in two stages now,  They fly up to the top of the pen and then up to the trees.
